Fisher Named Preseason All-American

A sore shoulder didn't stop Levar Fisher from leading the nation in tackles last season.

The online writers and the ABC Sports Announcing team have selected Wolfpack linebacker Levar Fisher as a preseason All-American. Fisher was one of three ACC defensive players named to the ACC Sports Online squad.

The Beaufort, N.C., native led the nation in tackles last season, even though he played much of the year hampered by a shoulder injury. HIs 166 tackles in 2000 were the sixth-best single-season total in school history and he had three single-game totals that rank among the top 10 ever by an NC State player.

Fisher was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy last season, which is awarded to the nation's top defensive player. He has also been named a preseason All-American by LIndy's, Athlon, Preview Sports and Football Action.
