NC State has announced its men's basketball schedule for the 2001-02 season. In all, the Wolfpack will play 15 games against teams that participated in last season's NCAA Tournament, including four regular season contests against Final Four contestants Duke and Maryland.
"We once again face a competitive non-conference schedule and as always, a rigorous conference round-robin," said head coach Herb Sendek.
"Our young team will be tournament and road-tested early and we will certainly be challenged from beginning to end. "
The Pack will once again compete in the third annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge as the squad will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes on November 27. NC State also travels to Syracuse in a rematch of last year's hard-fought contest with the Orangemen. The third non-conference opponent that was in last year's NCAA Tournament is Temple, which makes a trip to the ESA in January.
NC State will play host to the Black Coaches Association Invitational at the ESA to start off the season, November 14-16. Twelve games will be played in the three-day, eight-team tournament. The field consists of the Wolfpack, East Carolina, Fairleigh Dickinson, Northwestern, Prairie View A&M, Rutgers, San Jose State, and Virginia Commonwealth. The Wolfpack will first be in action Nov. 14 against Prairie View A&M at 7:00 p.m.
There will be plenty of chances for NC State fans to catch the Pack on television, as 24 games will be broadcast, including four as part of the ACC's new exclusive Sunday night television deal with Fox Sports Net.
The priority deadline for fans wanting to order season tickets is September 15.
