Less than a week before the start of training camp, former NC State wide receiver Koren Robinson is still waiting to sign his first NFL contract. But then again, only four of the 31 players that were selected in the first round of this year's NFL Draft were actually signed, sealed and delivered as of July 24.
Robinson is the property of the Seattle Seahawks, who made him the ninth overall pick in April's Draft.
"I just don't anticipate any problems," Seahawks coach and General Manager Mike Holmgren told the Seattle Times. "The market is forming. It appears as though the first round picks, the length of contracts, unlike last year, won't be a sticking point. Enough players are signing around our guys that the numbers are starting to fit and make sense for everybody."
Seattle has two first round picks to sign. Along with Robinson, the Seahawks also selected Michigan guard Steve Hutchinson in the opening round. Overall, Seattle has signed seven of the 12 players in its draft class.
As a redshirt sophomore last season, Robinson established himself as one of college football's premier receivers, making 62 catches for 1,061 yards and 13 touchdowns. After helping the Wolfpack to an 8-4 campaign, he gave up his final two years of college eligibility in order to make himself available for the NFL Draft.
The Seahawks will open preseason training camp on Sunday, July 29.
