NC State Women's Golf Stands Sixth At ACC Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. - NC State's women's golf team shot a first round score of 335 and currently stands in sixth place at the ACC Championships being held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. This is the first ACC women's golf championship that the Wolfpack have competed in since the 1985 season.
Nationally-ranked Duke is leading the event with a nine-over-par 293. The Blue Devils hold a commanding 17-shot lead over second-place North Carolina and Wake Forest.
Freshman Malin Claesson (Kalmer, Sweden) led NC State with an 81 in the opening round of competition and is currently tied for 19th. Margaux Hennessey followed with an 83 and Rebecca Randolph carded a 85.
Three of the top four golfers on the individual leaderboard are from Duke University. Virada Nirapathpongporn leads the tournament with a three-under 69, followed by teammate Candy Hannemann who stands second with a 73.
The second round of the ACC championships will be held on Saturday at the Palm Course on the Disney resort. NC State will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will be paired with Maryland and Florida State.
