Women's Tennis Falls to North Carolina

North Carolina opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches and claiming the doubles point. The Tar Heel tandem of Kendrick Bunn and Kate Pinchbeck, ranked No. 50 by the ITA in doubles, defeated the Pack duo of Loni Worsley and Jackie Leskovar, 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2, North Carolina's Marlene Mejia and Julie Rotondi, ranked No. 35 in doubles by the ITA, defeated NC State's Katrina Gildemeister and Myrna Bawono, 8-5. The Wolfpack's Kristin Lam and Jennifer Jasswalla fell 8-1 at No. 3 to the Tar Heels Elina Bairos and Courtney Zalinski.
In singles action, North Carolina swept all the matches in straight sets. Mejia, ranked No. 14 by the ITA in singles, lead the way for the Heels defeating the Pack's Lam, 4-1, ret., at No. 1.
The NC State women's tennis squad will return to action this weekend when they travel to Maryland to face the Terrapin's on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and then down to Virginia to face the Cavaliers at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. That will conclude the regular season for the Wolfpack.
