RALEIGH, N.C. -- As a fitting reward for winning his 11th conference championship, NC State wrestling coach Bob Guzzo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Wrestling Coach of the Year for the 2000-01 season.
Guzzo, who previously won the award in 1988, 1989, 1991 and 1996, guided the Wolfpack to a 12-7 overall dual-match record, Guzzo's second 12-win season in as many years. The Wolfpack went on to capture the ACC championship, with George Cintron at 125, Pierre Pryor at 157 and Zach Breitenbach at 197 winning their individual championships.
Guzzo, one of just two ACC coaches ever to win more than 300 dual matches, has a career record of 328-159-7, and an ACC record of 107-48.
