RALEIGH, NC (February 28, 2001) -- Leaders from North Carolina State University, the Wolfpack Club, supporters, and fans will celebrate the new expansion project planned for Carter-Finley Stadium in a groundbreaking event on Sunday, March 4, 2001. The event will begin at 12:15 PM at the south end of the stadium where the new football office and training complex will be constructed.
The public is encouraged to attend this event to celebrate the first major expansion of Carter-Finley Stadium since its inception nearly 40 years ago. Parking for the event will be free in any of the grass lots surrounding the stadium. Attendees are asked to enter on Trinity Road at Gate-C. Normal parking procedures for those attendees with basketball parking passes at the ESA will be in effect.
Expected to speak at the event are NC State Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, Athletics Director Lee Fowler, Head Football Coach Chuck Amato, and Wolfpack Club Executive Director Bobby Purcell. Former Wolfpack players attending the event will be Roman Gabriel, Jim Ritcher and Ted Brown.
In addition to breaking ground for the planned expansions, a time-capsule will be dedicated with special Wolfpack memorabilia, including the retired jerseys of Gabriel, Ritcher, Brown, Torry Holt and Dick Christie.
Tickets for the NCSU vs. Wake Forest men1s basketball game that day at the ESA will be available at the ESA box office for $22 each.
