Women's Golf Opens Spring Season at Carolinas Classic

NC State's women's golf team, in its first season since 1986, opened the
2001 spring schedule Monday at the Carolinas Classic. The Wolfpack sit in
12th place following the first round of competition in the 20 team event.
The 36-hole tournament is being held at Pinehurst #8 in Pinehurst, N.C. With a roster of five freshmen, NC State fired a 331 in the opening two rounds. Malin Claesson leads the Wolfpack with a 78 and is in a tie for ninth place heading into the final round. Alli Henderson is tied for 31st with an 81.
Georgia State and UNC Greensboro are currently tied atop the leaderboard at 316. Patricia Martinson of Charleston Southern and Meaghan Francella of Memphis lead the individual race with 75s.
