NC State Ranked 9th By Sporting News

RALEIGH, N.C. -- According to The Sporting News, NC State has the 9th best athletic department in the country. The grading system used to determine the rankings was made up of four categories: overall success of football and men's basketball, the graduation rate of those two sports, overall support of fans and administration and compliance of NCAA and conference rules.

The final scores were handed out in a grade point average format with the Wolfpack receiving a 3.33 GPA. Two of NC State's backyard rivals-North Carolina and Duke-were also ranked in the Top 10. The Tar Heels were 3rd while the Blue Devils came in with an 8th place ranking.

Stanford was given the nod as the nation's top athletic department.
