NC State Ranks 5th In Sears Cup Standings

RALEIGH, N.C. - Paced by strong showings at the men's and women's NCAA Cross Country Championships, NC State stands in fifth place in the latest Sears Cup standings, released November 29 by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today.
Colorado was ranked No. 1 in the standings with 162 points, followed by Stanford with 161, Michigan with 153, Brigham Young with 150, and NC State with 149. No other Atlantic Coast Conference schools were ranked in the top 10. Wake Forest stood 11th with 108 points, Virginia 14th with 99 points, Maryland 15th with 90 points, and North Carolina 17th with 95 points.
The Wolfpack women's cross country team finished second at the NCAA meet, the Pack's highest national finish since a second-place finish in 1987, and their first top 10 finish since a ninth-place finish in 1993. Kristin Price, Katie Sabino and Megan Coombs earned All-America honors for the NC State women.
The NC State men came in ninth at the NCAA meet, their fourth top 10 finish in the last five years. Chad Pearson and Chris Seaton made All-America for the men.
