Raleigh, N.C.--The NC State men's and women's swimming/diving teams announced the signing of four student-athletes for the fall 2002 semester. The Wolfpack will welcome Lindsay Hock, Kendall Smith, John Hudson and Andy Bauman to the program next season.
Hock, a premier breaststroker and distance swimmer from Roanoke, Va., will provide depth and look to make an immediate impact at the ACC level. She will be a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and swims under Coach Brent St. Pierre at the Carter-Center Aquatic Club. Hock looks to major in creative writing while at North Carolina State University.
Smith, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., is one of the top sprinters in the state and earned All-America honors in the 50 freestyle this season. She trains under Coach Randy Erlenbach at the North Carolina Aquatic Club in Chapel Hill and excels in both the freestyle and backstroke. In addition to being an extremely talented swimmer, Kendall is also up for several academic scholarships at NC State, where she plans on being a Textile Management and Clothing Design major after graduation from Durham-Jordan High School.
Hudson, a resident of Wake Forest, N.C., will graduate in the spring from Wake Forest Rolesville High School. An extremely talented freestyler with beautiful technique, Hudson will be called upon to lead a pack of young and talented swimmers to the top of the ACC. As a swimmer at Raleigh Swim Association, Hudson has flourished into one of the most talented swimmers in the state.
Another amazingly talented swimmer from Roanoke, Va. (Carter-Center Aquatics), Bauman is just scratching his potential as a swimmer. Already one of Virginia's top rated backstrokers and butterflyers, Andy should come in and turn a lot of heads both within the ACC and the entire NCAA as well.
"We are very proud of our recruiting efforts during the fall signing period," said Head Coach Brooks Teal. "I believe that we have not only four extremely talented swimmers joining us next year, but we have also gained four highly motivated and enthusiastic people as well."
"It is a very exciting time to be a part of the Wolfpack swimming and diving family. With this crop of athletes joining us, plus another group of student-athletes that will hopefully sign in the spring, the future looks bright for us to rise quickly up both the ACC and NCAA rankings."
