Football Award Winners Announced at Annual Banquet

Senior linebacker Levar Fisher was the top award winner at Saturday's annual Football Honors banquet, which was held at the McKimmon Center on the NC State campus. Fisher, who was named a first-team AFCA All-American last week, won the Governor's Award, which is given to the Most Valuable Player based on ability, contribution, leadership and other intangibles.
Fisher was also one of four players voted as permanent team captains by their teammates. Tight end Willie Wright, quarterback/wide receiver/special teams standout Olin Hannum and cornerback Brian Williams were also named captains.
Terrence Holt, who tied a national record with four blocked field goals this season, was the recipient of the Mike Hardy Award, which is given to the player who demonstrates a winning attitude and plays above his capabilities. Hannum earned the Bo Rein Award for the player who makes a vital contribution in an unsung role, while wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery won the Bob Warren Award, given to the player who exhibits integrity and sportsmanship. Wright earned the Al Michaels Award for putting team before self.

Mike Hardy Award (Winning Attitude/Plays Beyond Capabilities): Terrence Holt
Bo Rein Award (Vital Contribution in an Unsung Role): Olin Hannum
Bob Warren Award (Integrity and Sportsmanship): Jerricho Cotchery
Al Michaels Award (Team Before Self): Willie Wright
Ken McNeill Iron Wolf Award (Greatest Comeback from Injury): Keegan Weir
Earle Edwards Award (Letterman with highest GPA): Adam Kiker
Gary Rowe Award (Most Season Receptions): Ray Robinson
Offensive Scout Team MVP: Sean Berton
Defensive Scout Team MVP: Renaldo Moses
