In a pre-season exhibition basketball game on Saturday night, NC State's young Wolfpack got the shots it wanted. And although the Pack launched a whopping total of 40 three-point attempts, the vast majority of those shots were open looks. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those open shots didn't go in.
The end result was an 80-76 loss to Global Sports All-Stars in NC State's final pre-season tune up before next Wednesday's regular season opener against Prairie View A&M in the first round of the BCA Classic.
Unlike last Saturday night when it hit 14-of-29 from long range in a lopsided victory over EA Sports, the Pack was unable to find the mark against Global, hitting just 12-of-40 from the arc. Overall, NC State was just 29-of-74 (39.2 percent) from the floor.
Meanwhile, Global was fairly efficient on the offensive end. With forward Mark Davis (19 points) leading the way, Global Sports scored inside and outside most of the night in a 49 percent shooting performance.
Bulky big man Anthony Evans added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners.
Anthony Grundy, Julius Hodge and Scooter Sherrill had 12 points each to pace the Wolfpack. Freshman Josh Powell was NC State's leading rebounder with 10 boards, six of which came on the offensive end.
