UVA Sweeps Wolfpack

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's swimming/diving teams were swept Saturday afternoon by the University of Virginia at Willis Casey Aquatics Center. The Cavalier men won 155-81, while the women were victorious by a score of 136-107.
Freshman Pat Roberts continued to lead the Wolfpack in diving, winning the 1-meter competition with a score of 269.63 and the 3-meter with a mark of 299.63. Erin Bailey also took both diving events for the Wolfpack women, with a score of 260.03 in the 1-meter and 273.30 in the 3-meter.
In the pool, the Wolfpack was exceptionally strong, winning 3 of 4 relays. NC State's women won the 200 Medley Relay (AnnaMaria Gazda, Natalie Jones, Dawn DeLuca, Andrea Hastings) with a time of 1:47.27, while the Wolfpack men did the same in the 200 Freestyle Relay (Braden Holloway, Jorge Gutierrez, Chris Swank, Dan Pietrzak) with a mark of 1:26.66. DeLuca, Kim Whitaker, Gazda and Hastings also pulled of the win that event in 1:37.57.
The Wolfpack also posted victories in both 50 freestyle events, with Hastings winning for the women (24.14) and senior All-American Greg Solt taking the victory for the men (20.94).
NC State's next meet will be next Saturday, January 20 in the Willis Casey Aquatics Center at 1:00 p.m. against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
