NC State Men's Soccer Falls To Elon, 4-1

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team fell to Elon 4-1, to conclude action the adidas Wolfpack Classic on Sept. 3. This contest was moved from Method Road Soccer Complex to Lee Field due to soggy conditions.
After both teams played to a scoreless first half, Elon's Robert Latimer took a pass from Stephen Hockman and tucked his shot into the far post three minutes into the second half. The Phoenix (2-0) then got goals from Chad Heinicke and Marley Hagerstrom just six minutes apart to jump on top of the Pack 3-0 with 20 minutes to play.
NC State (0-1-1) did get in the score books, as Matt tabor took a long feed from Eric Kaufman to net his first goal of the season.
Elon's Latimer closed out the scoring with his second goal of the contest with less then two minutes remaining on the clock.
Both goalkeepers were busy all day, as Elon launched 15 shots on goal while the Pack had 12 of their own. NC State's Mitchell Watson finished with nine saves, while his counterpart Scott Wahl pitched in with seven saves.
NC State will next be in action this upcoming weekend, as the Pack travels to Duke to take part in the Duke Footlocker Tournament. NC State will face Butler on Sept. 8 at 5:00 p.m., then play Long Island on Sept. 9 at 5:00 p.m.
