Senior linebacker Clayton White was named to the Bronko Nagurski Award Watch List on Sept. 1.
The Trophy is presented annually to America's best defensive college football player. White was also one of 70 finalists named to the Dick Butkus Award List, which is given to the best collegiate linebacker.
On Dec. 4 at the Adam's Mark in Charlotte, the 2000 Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be presented by the Charlotte Touchdown Club, a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to raise scholarship money for area high school and college football players. Lou Holtz will be the keynote speaker this year (Bobby Bowden did the honors last year with Virginia Tech's Corey Moore winning the '99 Bronko Nagurski Trophy).
