Wolfpack Veterans Set To Join Freshmen

Chuck Amato led his rookie football players through their first two-a-day practice schedule on Aug. 7, working out for two hours in the morning session and one and a half hours in the afternoon.
"The heat was pretty strong today," said Amato following the afternoon workout, "but they had yesterday off so they were ready. These young guys are very excited, so their adrenaline is flowing and that burns extra energy. But they're in better shape than they think they are. You never expect your freshmen to be in top physical condition when they report, but I've been pretty pleased with the shape they're in overall. "
The rookies will spend Tuesday in academic meetings, while the Wolfpack varsity will report for dinner in the late afternoon. On Wednesday, the squad will go through a running test before full-squad drills begin Thursday morning. The a.m. practice will run from 10:35-12:35 and the afternoon session will run from 8:00 until 9:30 p.m.
"We're excited to finally be getting started," Amato continued. "I'm ready to see them all together and really get this season going."
