Freshmen, Transfers Hit The Field

Raleigh, NC - The NC State football squad began a new era on Aug. 5 as the Wolfpack freshmen and newcomers took the field for the first time under new head coach Chuck Amato.

The Pack worked out in helmets and shorts for over two hours at the practice fields on campus.

A total of 30 incoming freshmen and transfers went through individual drills and team--like situations.

"It was a typical first day," said Amato after practice. "The players were wide-eyed, but I thought they handled it well. We have a long way to go, but we want to instill in them the intensity level that we expect them to play with when the whole team comes together next week."

The freshmen and transfers will be back on the field on Monday at 9:45 a.m. and will workout in the afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
