As a former athletics director at Notre Dame and Virginia, Gene Corrigan knows a little something about the job. That's a major reason why the former ACC Commissioner will assist NC State in its search for a new athletics director.
Corrigan and former Florida AD Bill Carr have been hired by the search committee that's in charge of finding a successor to Les Robinson, who has accepted an offer to become the new athletics director at The Citadel. NC State chancellor Marye Anne Fox has said that she hopes to have a new AD in place by September 1.
Along with his stints at Virginia, Notre Dame and the ACC, Corrigan is also a one-time president of the NCAA. Carr was the athletics director at Florida from 1979-1986.
