Men's Soccer Ties ECU In Exhibition

Raleigh, N.C. (Aug. 27) - The NC State men's soccer team tied East Carolina University 0-0, Aug. 27 at the Method Road Soccer Complex. This was the Pack's last exhibition game, with NC State beginning its 2000 season this upcoming weekend.
The Wolfpack and the Pirates played even throughout the game, with each side registering a few good scoring opportunities. The Pack had its best chance of the contest, when senior Nick Olivencia fired a shot off the ECU post just ten minutes into the second half, even though the Pack played a man down the entire second half due to a red card suspension.
NC State tallied 16 shots on the day to ECU's 11. Olivencia registered a team-high four shots on goal, while Tony Malcolm and freshman Isreal Mejia each had three. State goalie Mitchell Watson notched three saves on the day.
Next up for the Pack is the annual adidas Wolfpack Classic. NC State will host High Point, Elon and Mercer with four games being played next Saturday and Sunday. NC State will take on High Point on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., then on Sunday the Pack face Elon at 3:00 p.m.
