RALEIGH, NC (Aug. 25) - Ray Robinson ran for three touchdowns and Philip Rivers threw for two scores as the NC State starters ran to an impressive 46-14 win over the Wolfpack reserves Aug. 25 at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Robinson ran for touchdowns on three consecutive possessions, scoring two touchdowns from one-yard and another from eight-yards out.
Rivers tossed a one-yard pass to Willie Wright for a score and one to Koren Robinson from 15 yards out.
"We had too many penalties," said NC State head coach Chuck Amato. "We learned a lot tonight about our football team and saw some things that we have to improve on."
Senior kicker Kent Passingham also got on the board as he booted field goals from 25-yards out and 37 yards.
"We have to be more physical in the kicking game," said Amato. "We started slow there tonight, but I hope we will get better in that area because special teams are so important."
The reserves scored two times on a 21-yard pass from Jatavis Sanders to Elliott London and a 51-yard pass from Sanders to Jeremy Hebane.
The Wolfpack will practice Saturday afternoon before returning to the field on Monday as preparations begin for Saturday's opener against Arkansas State.
