NC State Swimmers Compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

Two-time All-Americans Braden Holloway and Greg Solt were among the Wolfpack squad members vying for a spot on the Olympic team. Holloway narrowly missed qualifying for the semifinals of the 100 meter backstroke by placing 18th overall in a time of 57.09. The top 16 qualifiers were eligible for the semifinals.
Holloway also had impressive performances in the 200 meter Individual Medley (44th, 2:08.97), 200 meter backstroke (52nd, 2:07.28) and 100 meter breaststroke (54th, 1:05.75). Solt, owner of the fastest 50 meter freestyle in the ACC last season (20.02 seconds), finished 54th overall in the event with a time of 23.80.
All-ACC honoree Matt Brado posted top 30 performances in his appearances in the 200 meter freestyle (28th, 1:52.60) and 100 meter freestyle (30th, 51.08).
Junior Tim Haley also competed at the Trials in the 200 meter Individual Medley (54th, 2:10.61), 400 meter Individual Medley (54th, 4:38.58) and 200 meter butterfly (65th, 2:06.01).
1996 Wolfpack All-American J.J. Marus also competed in the 100 meter freestyle and posted a 23rd overall finish in a time of 50.70 seconds. The event was won by Neil Walker of the University of Texas in 48.71 seconds.
