Colts bring back running back Stephens

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) (July 26, 2000) -- Running back Tremayne Stephens, waived by Indianapolis last year, signed with the Colts as a free agent Tuesday. The 5-foot-11, 206-pound Stephens was with the Colts only two days before being waived. The former North Carolina State back was originally signed as a free agent by San Diego in 1998 and played 13 games with the Chargers. He was waived by San Diego, signed by the Colts claimed by San Diego in a week's span last September.

In two seasons, Stephens played in 24 games with the Chargers. He had 183 yards on 59 carries with four touchdowns, plus 20 receptions for 142 yards and one TD.
