By July 1, the NC State ticket office had already shattered last year's record for football season ticket sales. But don't think for a minute that Robb Wade is resting on his laurels.
"We haven't even done any advertising on TV and radio yet," said Wade, NC State's Director of Ticket Sales and Services. "Once we increase our advertising, I would expect our numbers to go up even more. With six weeks to go before our first game we're in pretty good shape in terms of where we've been in the past."
Last year, the athletics department established a new record for season ticket sales when it peddled approximately 23,000, but that milestone wasn't reached until the middle of August. Wade estimates that 24,500 season tickets have already been sold for this year's six-game home schedule at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Another big push could come next month.
"I think if we could, we would like to get to 28,000," Wade said. "Certainly that is a lofty goal because it's hard to say how people will react. We thought going into the first season at the ESA last year that we'd have trouble selling 10,000 season tickets, but then we turned around and sold almost 14,000. If we could get to 28,000 that would be fantastic, and obviously, it would be a huge increase over anything we've done before."
Along with the season ticket package that covers all six home games, the ticket office is once again selling three-game Mini Packs this year. The Red Mini Pack includes home games against SMU, Florida State and Duke. Tickets to the Georgia Tech, Florida State and Wake Forest games are featured in the White Mini Pack.
Both Mini Packs cost $75.00. Season tickets are $150.00.
Being a season ticket holder has its benefits-both for this fall and down the road.
"One of the things is that you get the same seat for every game," Wade explained. "And down the road as we continue to get better and sell more tickets, the only way to guarantee your seat will be to have had a season ticket the year prior to that."
Season ticket holders are also higher up on the priority list for the best seats in Carter-Finley. Or as Wade puts it: "The way that we do our seats is that anybody who's a member of the Wolfpack Club gets seated first. Then we do all of our other season ticket holders after that. Mini Packs and single game tickets come next. The earlier you make a purchase, the better off you are. And the more complete package you buy, the better off you are as well. Even someone who buys a season ticket today will get a better seat than someone who bought a single game ticket two months ago."

The Wolfpack will open its season and its home schedule against Arkansas State on September 2.
