Search Committee Named For NC State Athletics Director

Named to serve as chair of the search committee is William J. Burns Jr. of Hillsborough, an NC State alumnus and former chairman of the NC State Board of Trustees.
Also chosen to serve are: Richard Vaughn, of Mount Airy, a member of the Board of Trustees; Jim King, of the Wolfpack Club Board of Directors; Art Cooper, professor of forestry and Faculty Athletics Representative; Frank Weedon, senior associate athletics director; Natalie Duggins, an NC State student representative; Kathleen R. Brown of the NCSU Libraries, and secretary of the Faculty Senate; Art Anthony, chair of the Staff Senate; George Worsley, vice chancellor of finance and business. Paul Bitting, Asst. Professor in the Dept. of Education, Leadership and Program Evaluation and Member of the Athletics Council. Mary Elizabeth Kurz, university counsel, will serve as legal adviser and P.J. Teal will serve as staff support for the committee.
The first meeting of the search committee will be held at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 21, in the Chancellor's Conference Room, Holladay Hall.
Fox will ask the committee to screen qualified candidates and to forward to her an unranked list of three candidates. She hopes to choose a final candidate by Sept. 1, the date when current AD Les Robinson will leave the post for a similar position at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
