About a month ago, we asked you to vote for NC State's greatest football team
on our GOPACK.com fan poll. A team that featured new Wolfpack head coach
Chuck Amato came out on top.
The 1967 Wolfpack, known for its famed "White Shoes Defense," received 33.6 percent of the votes. Ranked as high as 3rd in the national polls that year, the 1967 Pack finished 9-2 after defeating Georgia in the Liberty Bowl.
Finishing second in our fan poll was the 1979 squad, which posted a 7-4 record and won the ACC championship. The '79 club received 26.3 percent of your votes.
The 1988 Wolfpack (8-3-1) picked up the third most votes, followed in order by the teams of 1994 (9-3, Peach Bowl Champs), 1957 (7-1-2, ACC champs), 1974 (9-2-1, tied with Houston in Astro Bluebonnet Bow) and 1973 (9-3, ACC and Liberty Bowl champions).
