Outgoing North Carolina basketball coach Bill Guthridge, who retired on Friday (6/30), won 80 games in his three years on the job. The only other man to win that many games in his first three seasons coached at NC State.

Everett Case's first three Wolfpack teams won 80 and lost only six between 1946-1949. During that period, the Pack won three consecutive Southern Conference Championships.

After succeeding Dean Smith in 1997, Guthridge led Carolina to an 80-28 record, including two Final Four appearances and one ACC title.
