RALEIGH, NC (June 28, 2000) -- NC State head football coach Chuck Amato has announced that Bob LaCivita has been named Coordinator of High School Relations for the Wolfpack football program. LaCivita will assist with the coordination of all recruiting efforts and aid Amato in a variety of other capacities as well.
"Having Bob LaCivita join our staff is a big step forward in our recruiting efforts," said Amato. "His experience will be invaluable to our young program as we work to build relationships with high school players, coaches and administrators."
LaCivita has worked with three different Division IA football programs in the past 23 years, serving most recently as the Assistant to the Head Football Coach at Auburn University from 1996-1998. At Auburn, he was responsible for oversight on recruiting, directing coaches clinics and football camps and supervising game day operatons for Coach Terry Bowden.
Prior to his stint at Auburn, the Pittsburgh, Pa., native spent 10 years at the University of Akron, where he served in a variety of capacities, including Recruiting Coordinator, Athletic Ticket Manager, Assistant Compliance Officer, and Senior Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director for Football. In addition to coordinating all recruiting efforts for Coach Gerry Faust, he taught courses in personal health during his tenure at Akron.
From 1983-1986, LaCivita was the recruiting coordinator for the football program at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked with Coach Foge Fazio. He served as the co-host of a half-hour television show, "The Winner's Circle," and was the coordinator of the Student Health Service's Office of Health Education from 1977-83.
Before joining the Pittsburgh staff, LaCivita served as a Drug and Alcohol Consultation and Education Specialist for the South Hills Health System's Chemical Abuse Program in the Pittsburgh area.
LaCivita graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1971 with a B.A. in psychology. In 1977, he earned his master's of public health from the University of Pittsburgh and in 1984, he received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
LaCivita is married to the former Michelle Baer. The couple has a six-year-old son, Bryan.
