Six Wolfpack Student-Athletes Receive Arthur Ashe Award

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 30, 2000) -- Six NC State athletes have been chosen to receive
the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. The award is given annually by
Black Issues in Higher Education to recognize outstanding student
athletes of color from the nation's colleges and universities. The
recipients were William Brown (football), Deval Desai (men's tennis),
Derek Green (football), Cameron Morris (track and field), Shane Sealy
(men's tennis) and Charece Williams (volleyball).
All recipients for the award must be a student-athlete of color, with at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and have a demonstrated record of service to the institution on community.
