What ever happened to Rodney Monroe? That's a question many NC State basketball fans have been asking ever since the sweet shooting guard left the Wolfpack in 1991.
Monroe, who is N C State's all-time leading scorer, is still up to his old tricks with S.S. Fabriano Basket in Italy. The 6'3 guard is the second leading scorer in the Pallacanestro league, averaging 23 points per game. In addition, he's the league's second best free throw shooter (91.6 percent).
Despite Monroe's efforts, Fabriano is in eighth place with a 13-17 mark.
Upon his departure from NC State, Monroe was drafted by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks in 1991. The Baltimore native played with the Hawks through the 1993 season. Since then, he has played in the CBA, Australia, the Philippines and Cyprus. Monroe went to Italy prior to the 1998-99 campaign.
In his senior season at NC State, Monroe was selected as the ACC's Player of the Year after averaging 27 points per game. He was also a first team All ACC selection in 1989 and 91. Monroe produced a school record 2,551 points during his stellar career with the Wolfpack.
