Amy O'Donnell of Virginia got things started for the Cavaliers after she defeated the Pack's Marissa Gildemeister at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Virginias Christie Schweer and Henriette Williams each won their matches at the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. NC States Loni Worsley picked up the only singles victory for the Wolfpack as she defeated Leslie Cook at No. 4 4-6, 7-5, 2-0 def., after Cook had to retire in the third set due to cramps.
The Pack's No. 1 doubles duo of Myrna Bawono and Brie Glover defeated Virginia's Schweer and Weaver, 8-4. NC State picked up another win at the No. 3 doubles position because of a default by Virginia.
The Pack returns to action on Sunday, April 16 when they host Maryland at the Wolfpack Tennis Complex, weathering permitting. This will round out the season for NC State. NC States scheduled match against Elon on the 17th has been cancelled.
