NC State Hires New Assistant Swimming Coach

Raleigh, N.C. (March 2) - NC State announced on Thursday that Wayne Norris has been hired to fill the vacant assistant swimming coach position. Norris comes to NC State from Southern Arkansas University, where he was the swimming coach for a season and a half.
"We're very pleased to welcome a person with the character and reputation that Wayne has here at NC State," said the Pack's head coach Scott Hammond. "Wayne has proven that he has the expertise necessary to help our program reach the next level. His influence should be felt immediately!"
Norris received his Bachelor of Science Degree from East Carolina in 1974. After obtaining his Master's Degree from Clemson in 1983, Norris spent three seasons as the Tigers head volleyball coach. He left Clemson in 1986 to accept a position as the head swimming coach at Virginia Tech. He spent a decade at the helm of the Hokies. While at Virginia Tech, he compiled a 92-69 record and a .571 winning-percentage.
