RALEIGH, N.C. -- The goal of every division one college football program in the country is to be practicing in early December. For NC State, that dream came to fruition on December 7 when the Wolfpack returned to the practice field.
The Wolfpack, which will meet Minnesota in the MicronPC.com Bowl in Miami on December 28, will go through a series of workouts in Raleigh before it heads down to South Florida on December 21.
"We've been having them run and lift, so we just want them to get back to putting some gear on and working on fundamentals," said Wolfpack head coach Chuck Amato. "It's a reward where we get a chance to work with young men for an extra 15 days, teaching them the fundamentals. All you can do is get better when you practice."
NC State qualified for postseason play by posting a 7-4 mark during the regular season. Minnesota, out of the Big 10 Conference, recorded a 6-5 record that included league victories over Penn State, Illinois and Ohio State.
In their final regular season game, a 27-24 win over Iowa, the Golden Gophers rallied from 12-points down to become bowl eligible.
In 18 previous appearances, NC State's all-time bowl record stands at nine wins and nine losses. This will mark the Pack's second appearance in the MicronPC.com Bowl. On December 29, 1998, NC State was defeated by Miami 46-23.
