RALEIGH, N.C. - Idle since last Friday's victory over UNC-Asheville, the NC State men's basketball team will resume its season when it plays host to Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo this afternoon at the ESA. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
Following the win over the Bulldogs, Pack coach Herb Sendek gave his team three days off for Christmas before bringing them back to campus on Tuesday.
"We've had a good week of practice," said junior guard Archie Miller. "The intensity has been real good and I think the team is starting to come together. We're concentrating on Cal Poly, then we'll be ready to get into the ACC."
This will be NC State's final regular season tune-up before the conference portion of its schedule begins. The Wolfpack will open ACC play on the road against nationally ranked Virginia next Saturday.
Cal Poly (5-3) is led by 6-8, 235 pound senior Chris Bjorkland, who averages 21 points per game. Jamaal Scott, a 6-5 freshman, is contributing 16 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
The last meeting in the series took place in 1995 when the Wolfpack posted a 103-82 win at Cal Poly.
