Gazda Takes Third In Final Day Of Georgia Invite

In other action for NC States women, Emily Fess posted a seventh overall finish in the 1650 free (17:37.20), while Natalie Jones also took seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.76). Senior Mary Mittendorf gave a strong performance in the 200 butterfly, finishing in fifth-place, with a time of 2:06.80. The NC State womens 400 free relay team of Andrea Hastings, Karen Cone, Mittendorf and Mandy Horn also placed sixth in the evening session with a time of 3:33.32. Later, Hastings also led the way for the Wolfpack in the 100 free, taking 12th overall with a time of 52.36.
In the womens 1 meter diving competition, junior Erin Lambie was the top NC State scorer with a total of 226.45 (fifth overall), just ahead of teammate Nicole Vanderbeke in sixth with a score of 218.45.
On the mens side, Mark Eberlie began the day on a positive note for the Wolfpack by placing fourth overall in the 1650 free with a time of 15:50.62. Senior All-American Braden Holloway was NC States top finisher in the 200 backstroke, tallying a seventh-place finish (1:51.59), while fellow All-American Greg Solt led the way for the Wolfpack in the 100 free in 12th place (46.39). Suha Akman was the top man in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in a tie for 13th overall (2:06.34) with Tim Montgomery from Florida State.
Also, Tim Haley took eighth overall for NC State in the 200 butterfly with a finishing mark of 1:51.13. In the final event of the day, the Wolfpacks 400 free relay team of Chris Swank, Solt, Holloway and Jorge Gutierrez took sixth-place in 3:06.43.
In the mens 3 meter diving competition, freshman Pat Roberts finished eighth for NC State with a score of 419.10 for his 11 dives. NC States next action will be a month away when they travel to Plantation, FL for a meet against Miami, OH on January 3rd.
