Pittsburgh Downs Wolfpack in Swimming

PITTSBURGH, PA (Nov. 3, 2000) - The NC State mens swimming/diving squad fell Friday evening at Pittsburgh by a score of 149-91. The Wolfpack men now stand at 0-2 (0-1 ACC) on the young season.
Senior All-American Braden Holloway led the way for the Wolfpack on this night as he took victories in the 100 yard backstroke (50.79) and 100 yard butterfly (57.83). Junior Suha Akman finished a close second to Holloway in the 100 butterfly with at time of 58.55. The Wolfpack was also anchored by a strong performance from senior Randy Tyner in the 500 yard freestyle when he took first overall in the event with a time of 4:40.16.
NC State also made a strong showing in the 400 yard Individual Medley as they swept the competition when junior Tim Haley took first (4:06.89), senior Richard Culberson finished second (4:08.34) and Akman placed third (4:09.29). Freshman Patrick Roberts also boosted the Wolfpacks diving score with a victory on the 3 meter board (273.15 points).
NC State will next be in action on Saturday, November 4th when it faces the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 10:00 a.m. in Pittsburgh. The next home meet for Wolfpack swimming will be on Saturday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. when the NC State women will host Navy.
