Men's Soccer Shuts Out Garnder-Webb

RALDEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State men's soccer team celebrated its senior day with a 3-0 victory over visiting Gardner-Webb, Thursday afternoon at the Method Road Complex. Among the honored players today were: Jason Faulcon, Kenny Gregson, Tony Malcolm, Nick Olivencia, and Ross Weikel.
NC State (3-11-3) started the scoring off just before halftime. The Pack's Damon Butler headed in a Scott MacNeill free kick in the 44th minute to give NC State a 1-0 lead.
The Wolfpack, who outshot Gardner-Webb 22-9 for the game, continued its barrage on the Bulldogs goal throughout the second half. In the 69th minute, Lee Baldwin took a Nick Olivencia pass and tucked the ball into the corner of the net. Olivencia then netted his own goal, his team leading seventh goal of the year, off of an assist from Baldwin in the 81st minute to conclude the Pack's goals on the day.
NC State's Mitchell Watson notched his fourth shutout of the year, as he recorded four saves. Gardner-Webb's Rio Oros finished with 10 saves.
NC State will next be in action next weekend, as the Pack will participate in the ACC Tournament hosted by Wake Forest University.
