Oct. 28: A Day PACKed with Excitement!
10/19/2000 12:00:00 AM | Pack Athletics
The excitement begins at 10:00 a.m. as NC State plays host to the ACC Cross Country Championships. The Wolfpack women have won 17 of the 22 meets in conference history, while the men's squad has brought home the last five titles. The event will be held at the University Club on Hillsborough Street. Admission and parking are free.
The day will also offer Wolfpack fans their first glimpse at the men's and women's basketball squads. At 10:30 a.m., the Wolfpack Women's basketball squad will scrimmage at Reynolds Coliseum. Once again, admission and parking are free.
The men's basketball squad will revive a Wolfpack tradition with the Red and White game at 3:00 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. In addition to an intrasquad scrimmage, the event will include NBA-style introductions with indoor fireworks, a team autograph session, a shoot-out for tuition by Pepsi and University Dining and a half-court shot contest for $25,000 sponsored by Kroger. Former Wolfpack greats will be honored and another jersey will be raised to the rafters during the event. Another highlight of the afternoon will be when Head Coach Herb Sendek joins Mean Gene and Slappy on the dance floor.
Admission to the Red & White game is also free and fans are encouraged to come early to make sure they find a seat for the festivities. Football parking passes will be honored, but general parking will be available at the fairgrounds.
And finally, at 7:00 p.m., the Wolfpack Football squad will kick off against Florida State in a sold-out game at Carter-Finley Stadium. Fans without tickets are encouraged to follow the action live on ESPN, on the Wolfpack Radio Network, on through www.gopack.com's Live TotalCast.
