Olivencia Leads Men's Soccer Past UNC-Wilmington

Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 18) - The NC State men's soccer team downed UNC-Wilmington 1-0, in an exciting overtime game on Oct. 18 at the Method Road Soccer Complex. With the win, the Pack improves its overall record to 2-8-3, while the Seahawks fall to 3-9-1.
Senior Nick Olivencia notched the Pack's game-winner just 1:25 into overtime. Junior Damon Butler struck a long pass at midfield to Olivencia at the top of the Seahawks penalty. Olivencia , who was one-on-one with a UNC Wilmington defender, chested the ball down and fired a shot into the far corner of the Seahawks net for his fifth goal of the season.
Both teams played even throughout the contest, as NC State recorded 11 shots on goal and UNC Wilmington notched 10. NC State's Mitchell Watson recorded his third shutout of the season for the Pack, as he finished with seven saves. UNC Wilmington's Bill Mills ended with six saves, including stopping a penalty shot in the 75th minute.
NC State returns to ACC action this weekend, when the Pack travels to UNC-Chapel Hill on Sunday, for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
