Bye Week Gives Pack a Chance to Mend Wounds

Bye weeks are a crapshoot. They either come up at a good time or they don't. In NC State's case, the upcoming void in the schedule is very timely. Not only did the Wolfpack get it's feelings hurt in last weekends 31-7 loss at Wake Forest, it also emerged from the game with some beat-up bodies.
The NC State coaching staff no doubt let out a sigh of relief on Tuesday when medical test's revealed that Levar Fisher had not sustained any major structural damage to his injured shoulder. However, if the Pack had to take the field this Saturday, the sophomore linebacker probably wouldn't have been available. As it is, he's expected to return to the practice field on Monday.
Center Keegan Weir, who broke his fibula in the opener at Texas, will undergo x-rays on Wednesday. If all goes well, he should be cleared to start running on Monday. Weir is still very questionable for the Clemson game on October 9.
Running back Erik Leak should return to the practice field on Monday. A toe injury kept the junior out of last Saturday's game at Wake Forest. Guard John Fletcher is being listed as day-to-day with a similar toe problem.
Wet weather will likely force the Pack to practice indoors for the next couple of days.
