NC State Knocked out of Top 25

RALEIGH, N.C. - (Sept. 27) NC State's lopsided 31-7 loss to Wake Forest sent a loud message to those members of the media who vote in the AP College Football Poll. Not only did the Pack fall out of the top 25, it didn't even receive a single vote. NC State was ranked 25th last week.

Florida State remained #1 following its 42-10 trouncing of North Carolina. Georgia Tech, which was idle on Saturday, moved up one spot to 9th. East Carolina made the biggest move of the week. The Pirates, who stunned nationally ranked Miami at Carter-Finley Stadium, make their first appearance in the poll at number 19. Following a one-week absence, Virginia returns to the top 25 at #24. The Cavaliers posted a 45-40 win at BYU on Saturday night.
