Wolfpack Women Announce 1999-2000 Schedule

In addition to the rugged ACC conference schedule, NC State faces a tough non-conference slate. The Wolfpack will square off against perennial powers such as Tennessee, Texas, Rutgers and Washington.
"Playing good competition is important to develop your team into a strong national contender," commented NC State head coach Kay Yow. "A tough schedule give you many checkpoints throughout the year to see where you stand compared to the best teams."
The Wolfpack Women will open its 1999-2000 season Nov. 14 in Knoxville, TN in the prestigious State Farm Tip-Off Classic. NC State will face Rutgers on ESPN2 at 1 p.m., followed by Tennessee and Louisiana Tech at 3 p.m. This tournament is held in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame which opened last year in Knoxville.
NC State then returns to Raleigh to host a tournament the weekend of Nov. 20-21 including Washington, Southern Miss and UNC-Greensboro. Over the Thanksgiving break, the Wolfpack will be in Cancun to face Kansas State and Drake in a holiday tournament. The Wolfpack will host non-conference opponents New Hampshire, South Carolina and New Orleans in December and then play Miami in the Orange Bowl Women's Fab 4.
After the holidays, NC State will travel to Austin, Texas to face the Longhorns in the ACC/Big XII Challenge on Jan. 23 on ESPN2. Six days later, the Wolfpack travel to Cleveland to meet Tennessee in the Gund Arena.
On Sun., Feb. 13, the Wolfpack will host Clemson and have a weekend celebration in honor of Coach Kay Yow's 25 years as head coach at NC State. Festivities will be held to honor Yow and her former players and staff.
