Pack Women Remain Undefeated with 80-60 Win over Miami

MIAMI (AP) -- Summer Erb had 28 points and eight rebounds to lead fourth-ranked North Carolina State over Miami 80-60 in the first game of the Orange Bowl Women's Basketball Fab Four Tournament.
Erb, who shot 10-of-15 from the field, played just 27 minutes.
When Miami (4-3) double-teamed Erb, North Carolina State countered with Kaayla Chones, who had 15 points and 11 rebounds; and Tynesha Lewis, who had 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
Miami was down 42-36 with 16:27 to play, but the Wolfpack went on an 11-4 run to go up 53-40 with 12:37 to go. After two straight baskets, the Hurricanes cut the lead to nine points. Then things fell apart for Miami.
State (9-0) went on a 21-6 run over the next six minutes to take a 72-50 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Erb led the way with six points during that stretch.
The Hurricanes shot just 34.3 percent for the game, making just 1-of-13 from 3-point range. Miami also shot just 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from the free throw line.
State led 32-27, but closed out the final 5:33 with a 13-1 run to take a 40-28 halftime lead.
Miami opened the second half with a 6-2 run as Sheila James scored four of her 17 points. They cut the lead to 42-36, but that was as close as the Hurricanes got.
