Wolfpack Swimmers Roll Over Duke

Men's Results
RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 9) Both NC State's swimming and diving squads defeated Duke on Tuesday, at the Willis Casey Aquatics Center. The NC State men toped Duke 138-79, while the Wolfpack Women won by a score of 153-88. The win moves the NC State men's record to a stellar 4-0, with all four victories coming in ACC competition, while the women sport an impressive 3-2 record.
Each of the Pack's diving squads had excellent evenings. Both Andy Johnson and Shelly Cavaliere won first place on each the one and three-meter boards.
The Pack's swimming teams also did quite well on the evening. The men took home top honors in eight separate events. Highlights included Braden Holloway's 50 freestyle of 21.66, Valter Magnusson's 200 butterfly of 1:54.52 and Matt Brado's 500 freestyle of 4:42.18.
Not to be out done by the men, the Pack women placed first in eight different events. Some of the top female performance were put in by Mary Mittendorff, with her 200 freestyle of 1:57.30, Katie Sheridan, with a 2:08.94 in the 200 backstroke, and Kathleen Tonini, with her 17:40.95 in the 1,650 freestyles.
The Pack will now prepare for an out of conference battle with South Carolina on Thursday. That meet, originally scheduled to take place in Columbia, S.C., will be held at NC State's Willis Casey Aquatics Center. Warm-up's will take place at 2:00 p.m. with the meet starting at 3:00 p.m.
