Wells is Anything but Well

Over the summer, NC State forward Tim Wells figured he would have a senior season to remember. He was right. It will be difficult for the Winston-Salem native to forget what has happened to him already.
Two sore knees prevented Wells from doing much of anything during the pre-season. And last week, just as he was working his way back into playing shape, he dislocated his shoulder in practice.
"The doctors will reevaluate the situation on Thursday," said NC State head coach Herb Sendek. "Perhaps the best case scenario would have him returning to practice on Friday with the possibility that it could take another week for the injury to heal adequately enough for him to return. He was just beginning to get back into practice when he hurt his shoulder. For all intents and purposes, he hasn't really practiced this year."
Sendek says it's much too early to consider a medical redshirt for Wells, who started 22 of the Pack's 33 games last season.
Prior to the official start of practice on October 16th, Wells was diagnosed with tendonitis in both of his knees. Following three weeks of inactivity, he returned to practice on a limited basis last week. The shoulder injury occurred one day before the season opener against Georgia.
Wells has averaged 5.2 points per game in his career. Last season, he led NC State in free throw percentage (88.3%) and three-point shooting (40%).
