With our first game in the new Entertainment and Sports Arena rapidly approaching on Nov. 19, a new era in Wolfpack basketball is about to begin.
Last season, we took important time to pause, reflect and remember thes pecial meaning Reynolds Coliseum has had for NC State, the ACC and college basketball. With heartfelt emotion, we recalled the legends and epic moments that still linger in Reynolds to this day.
Now, we must bring the excitement and energy that shook Reynolds for 50 years to our new home. The ESA will be among the finest arenas in the nation, with all the ammenities and luxuries anyone could expect. With 19,722 rabid Wolfpack fans, it will also be one of the best environments in the nation for college basketball.
It is our responsibility to make sure the spirit of Reynolds Coliseumlives on at the ESA.
With that in mind, here are some guidelines NC State fans coming to the ESA should go by:
COME EARLY. We need your support from the minute we take the floor during pregame warmups. Be ready to cheer when the doors open.
BE LOUD. Don't wait for a highlight to happen to begin chearing. Help create highlights by being loud and enthusiastic at all times.
WEAR RED. Your favorite NC State T-shirt, sweatshirt or sweater will dofine. Face-painting and basketball heads are also encouraged.
STAND DURING PREGAME INTRODUCTIONS. It doesn't matter if you've worked all day, just ran a marathon or are wearing uncomfortable shoes. Wolfpack fans must stand and cheer during the entire pregame introductions.
BE CREATIVE. NC State fans are loud and supportive. Our reputation forbeing "Reynolds Rowdies" must be taken to the ESA. But be creative, chants of "You Suck" or "U.S.A" should be avoided.
THREE-POINT RULES. When a Wolfpack player takes a three-point shot, everyone must raise their right arm. After the ball goes through the net, drop your arm and yell, "THREE!"
WAVE YOUR ARMS DURING FREE THROWS. You must wave your arms and yell when opponents are shooting free throws. Concentrating at the free-throw lineis easier said than done.
Our program has gained exciting momentum and it is with heart-racing anticipation that we look forward to our first season in the ESA. Your loyal support and encouragement is an important part of our success.
GO WOLFPACK,
Herb Sendek
