Kay Yow Receives George Bush Community Impact Award

Houston, TX (Nov. 11) -- NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow was honored with the President and Mrs. George Bush Community Impact Award at a banquet in Houston.
She joins a prestigious group of previous honorees including former Dallas Cowboy coach Tom Landry, LPGA great Betsy King, Congressman J.C. Watts, Jr. and Madeline Manning Mims.
The award is coordinated by the Houston chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Criteria for consideration includes athletic accomplishment, Christian leadership and committment for community.
Yow was introduced at the banquet by one of her former Wolfpack players, Cristy Earnhardt McKinney, who is now the head women's basketball coach at Rice University.
"Kay Yow is one of the most admired and respected coaches on the international and collegiate scene," commented McKinney.
Yow is very active in community service and church-related activities. The previous three years she has served as honorary chairperson for House of Hope and Race for the Cure. She is active in FCA and was inducted into the FCA Hall of Champions in 1991.
