Men's Soccer Tops Appalachian State 1-0

The Wolfpack (5-2-2, 1-1-1 ACC) capitalized on one of the only scoring opportunities that both squads had all game. Senior Sabastian Rodriguez put the ball into a wide open net from only six yards out at the 22:43. Reigning ACC player of the week, Nick Olivencia, gained the assist as he found a wide open Rodriguez alone in the box.
Neither team could gain any dominance in the shot category, as NC State put nine shots on goal., and the Mountaineers (5-5, 2-0 Southern Conference) had five, all in the second half. State goalie Mitchell Watson recorded two saves, and now has 2.5 shutouts for the season.
NC State was without the services of Hermann trophy nominee Shaker Asad, who suffered bruised ribs in the Packs 2-1 victory over Virginia on Sunday.
NC State will next travel to #8 Wake Forest for a 7:00 p.m. game on Saturday.
