Pack's Nick Olivencia Earns ACC Player of the Week

Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 5) - NC State's men soccer player Nick Olivencia has just been named the Atlantic Coast Confernce Player of the Week after leading the Wolfpack past #13 Virginia 2-1 on Sunday. The win improved State's record to 4-2-2 and 1-1-1 in conference play. The win was also NC State's first victory over an ACC opponent since 1997, and the second time this season that the Pack has defeated a NSCAA Top 25 team.

Olivencia, a junior forward from Des Moines, Iowa, recorded two goals on three shots, scoring the game-winner with no time left on the clock. He now leads the team with five goals and twelve points, matching the top team totals from last season.

NC State will next be in action tomorrow afternoon, when it plays host to Appalachian State (5-4) at 3:30 p.m. at the Method Road soccer complex.
