Kristin Paulson was an assistant coach for the women’s golf program for the 2016-17 season.
She helped head coach Page Marsh continue a historical postseason streak, as the team earned its 15th NCAA regional berth in 16 years. The squad finished in the top seven in none of the 10 tournaments on the schedule, including a team win at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 12-14, marking the program's first team win since 2013.
Paulson comes to Raleigh after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Purdue for three seasons, where she helped coordinate various tournaments hosted by the Boilermakers as well as assisted in daily practice, skill instruction and goal setting for players. In 2014 she earned her master’s degree in materials science engineering.
Prior to her coaching stint, she was a student athlete at Iowa State where she broke the record for most career rounds played by a Cyclone women’s golfer and contributed to the program earning a top-15 ranking nationally during her tenure. Paulson additionally was a two-time NCAA Regional Championship participant and four-year starter.
During her time at Iowa State she was also a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three seasons and served as a camp counselor for ISU’s summer golf camps.
Paulson additionally has experience in the professional realm as she participated in Stage I of LPGA Qualifying School twice and caddied for professional player Prima Thammaraks, who recently earned LPGA status for the 2016 season. She also holds level one certification with the Titleist Performance Institute.
Outside of her coaching experience Paulson was an analyst for Innovar for seven months as well as a research and teaching assistant at Purdue for two years, conducting engineering experiments for Cummins Inc.
